Development of the Boiler House Community Centre
We are currently undertaking an ambitious three-phase redevelopment of The Boiler House Community Centre. This project represents a significant investment in the future of our community and will enable us to expand our services, increase the number of people we support, and create welcoming spaces where the community can connect, learn, and thrive.
The redevelopment will strengthen the space’s role as a vital hub for local people. By improving our facilities and outdoor spaces, we aim to grow our food support provision, deliver more community programmes, and create environments that promote health, wellbeing, and community engagement.
Phase 1: Sports pitch and rain garden
Phase 1 has focused on improving our outdoor recreational facilities. This phase has included the installation of a new sports pitch which will provide a safe and accessible space for people across the community to stay active.
Alongside the sports pitch, we have created a rain garden around the space. This sustainable landscaping feature will help manage rainwater naturally while introducing new planting that supports biodiversity and enhances the appearance of the site. All Phase 1 works were completed in April 2026.

Phase 2: Extending the Boiler House Community Centre
Phase 2 will focus on extending The Boiler House Community Centre building. This expansion will significantly increase the capacity of our food pantry and The Good Place project, allowing us to support more individuals and families experiencing food insecurity and more general support needs.
The additional space will also enable us to broaden our community activities and services, creating opportunities for new programmes, events, and partnerships that benefit the wider neighbourhood. Subject to everything progressing as planned, we are scheduled to break ground later in the year.

Phase 3: Community growing space and forest garden
The final phase of the redevelopment will transform the entrance to the site through the creation of a new community garden. This space will include a small forest garden and community growing space.
The garden will provide opportunities for residents to take part in planting, growing food, learning about nature, and spending time in a calming green space. It will also enhance the welcoming feel of the Centre and create another shared space where the community can come together.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and funding partners, the redevelopment of The Boiler House Community Centre has so far been fully funded. This reflects the strong belief shared by our community, partners, and funders in the importance of the Centre and the role it plays in supporting local people. Their investment has enabled us to begin transforming the site into a space that can better meet the growing needs of our neighbourhood.
However, as the project progresses, rising construction and material costs mean that completing the full vision for the redevelopment will require additional support. Like many projects across the sector, we have been affected by increasing prices for building materials, labour, and landscaping works. Any further funding will help ensure we can deliver the final stages of the project to the highest standard, complete the planned facilities, and maximise the long-term impact of the Centre for the community. We warmly welcome the support of funders, partners, and donors who would like to help us bring this project across the finish line.
You can support the completion of the project by making a donation. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us move closer to delivering the full vision for The Boiler House Community Centre and ensuring these new spaces are ready to serve the community for many years to come.
We also warmly welcome support in other ways. If you or your organisation are able to donate materials, equipment, or services that could assist with the final stages of the redevelopment, please get in touch with us.
Community partnerships and in-kind contributions can make a real difference in helping us bring this project to completion.
