A new location, more choice and a return to our shop-style pantry
From Thursday 10 September, The Good Place Pantry will be moving to Stamford Hill Estate Community Centre.
The new venue is just a short walk from George Downing Estate:

Why are we moving?
As many of you know, our current pantry setup was always intended to be temporary while we waited for the extension of the Boiler House Community Centre.
While we continue to wait for these exciting developments, we now have the opportunity to relocate The Good Place to Stamford Hill Estate Community Centre. The new space will allow us to return to the shop-style pantry model, giving members greater choice and independence when selecting their food.
Returning to a Shop-Style Pantry
We are really pleased to be able to return to our shop-style model.
The pantry will be set out like a small shop, with food organised into clearly labelled, colour-coded areas:
- 🔴 Red – Choose 1 item
- 🔵 Blue – Choose 2 items
- 🟢 Green – Choose 3 items
Rather than receiving a pre-selected food parcel, you will be able to browse the pantry and choose the items that are most useful for your household.
We believe this approach gives our members more choice and greater independence, while also helping to reduce food waste by allowing you to select food that you know you will use and enjoy.
For reference, we recently calculated that the average weekly value of a pantry parcel is approximately £30–£40 per member.
Membership Fee
From 3 September, the weekly membership fee will be £4.00.
We understand that any increase can be difficult, particularly at a time when household budgets are already under pressure. Unfortunately, we have seen a significant reduction in food donations.
The increase will help us maintain a good range and quality of food for our members and continue providing the pantry service.
100% of the membership fee is used to purchase food for the pantry.
Booking Deposit
To help reduce missed appointments and ensure that spaces are available to those who need them, a 50% deposit of £2.00 will be required when booking.
The remaining £2.00 balance is payable at your pantry visit.
If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, or do not attend your appointment without notifying us, the £2.00 deposit will be non-refundable.
We understand that emergencies and unexpected circumstances happen. Exceptional circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
When is the Pantry Open?
The Good Place Pantry will be open every Thursday from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
The pantry will operate on a first-come, first-served basis during these hours.
Booking
The booking process remains largely the same, apart from the introduction of the new time slots.
Please note: the time you select when booking is not your arrival time.
The booking system is used to help us monitor attendance and manage the number of members using the pantry each week.
You can attend the pantry any time between 2:00pm and 5:00pm on Thursday.
Parking
There is no parking available on Stamford Hill Estate. However, there is a 20-minute grace period.
Please be aware that the estate operates an ANPR camera monitoring system.
Boiler House Spaces cannot accept responsibility for any parking penalties or charges issued while visiting our sites or taking part in our projects.
We strongly recommend allowing plenty of time for your journey and considering alternative transport wherever possible.
We Look Forward to Welcoming You
We are excited about the move and the opportunity to bring back the shop-style pantry model.
The move will give our members more choice, greater independence and a better pantry experience, while we continue working towards the future development of The Good Place at the extended Boiler House Community Centre.
